INVENTORY / MOVEMENT

Moving goods should not mean losing the trail.

Plan a transfer as a source, a destination and an accountable handoff. Inspect how the configured Agora workflow records the movement and handles the gap between dispatch and receipt.

BUILT AROUND THE WORK

What this means
for your business.

01

Identify both ends

Confirm the source and destination before selecting items. A stock transfer is a physical movement between locations, not a customer sale.

02

Account for the journey

The sending team and receiving team need an agreed handoff. Define what happens to stock while goods are moving and when the destination may sell them.

03

Resolve the difference

A short receipt, damaged item or duplicate confirmation needs a deliberate correction. Preserve the reason and ownership rather than silently changing a headline quantity.

THE DETAIL IN BUSINESS CONTEXT

Follow the item, not just the headline total.

A variant at a warehouse and the same variant at a shop have distinct location records. Movement, reservation and correction explain why available quantity changes.

The record identity

Variant, location, quantity and reason are part of an inspectable stock event.

The exception

A short receipt, damaged item or concurrent update requires a decision trail and a responsible person.

Follow the implementation and operating detail ↗

INSPECT THE RECORDS AND DECISIONS

The handoff and the receipt are different decisions.

Moving a quantity requires an origin, destination and a record that stays with the goods. A transfer is complete only when the receiving process and its exceptions are understood.

Operating concepts to inspect in your setup; this is not a wire-format schema. Exact API fields belong in the source-derived reference.

Origin
The location supplying the goods.
Destination
The location receiving and becoming responsible for them.
Variant & quantity
The same item identity and count throughout the movement.
Dispatch evidence
The record of what was actually handed over.
Receipt evidence
The receiving team’s counted quantity and decision.
Discrepancy owner
The person responsible when dispatch and receipt do not agree.

If five leave and four arrive

Keep the missing unit visible. Investigate damage, miscount or an incomplete handoff using the original movement identity.

Before automating replenishment

Define which stock measure triggers movement and who resolves an exception. An automated request is not evidence of physical receipt.

INSPECT AN OPERATING SCENARIO

The same SKU. A different location.

Follow a five-unit transfer from the main warehouse to a retail location. Inspect the receiving discrepancy as well as the normal handoff.

Start at the origin

Check the variant, source and destination before authorising movement. In this example the warehouse has 18 units and the shop has 6.

Main warehouse18 units

Retail shop6 units
No goods in transit
What needs attention here?

The movement has not started. A request does not prove that physical stock has left.

FOLLOW THE PROCESS

From the first step
to the next decision.

01

Prepare the movement

Check the correct variants, quantity, source and destination.

Prepare the movement→Record the handoff→Verify receipt
