BUILT AROUND THE WORK

What this means
for your business.

01

Put stock in context

A product’s stock record needs a variant and a location. Separate physical quantity, reservations and availability in your operating model so a headline total does not conceal what can actually be sold.

02

Record the reason for change

The stock-issue workspace captures location, reason, item and quantity. A damage report and an ordinary sale are different events; your records should preserve that distinction.

03

Plan movement and replenishment

Location transfers and receiving need a clear source, destination and reconciliation process. Define who owns the movement and how discrepancies are resolved before adding automation.

THE BUSINESS BEHIND THE CAPABILITY

Follow the item, not just the headline total.

A variant at a warehouse and the same variant at a shop have distinct location records. Movement, reservation and correction explain why available quantity changes.

The record identity

Variant, location, quantity and reason are part of an inspectable stock event.

The exception

A short receipt, damaged item or concurrent update requires a decision trail and a responsible person.

INSIDE INVENTORY

Stock is a sequence of events. Not just a number.

A reliable stock picture depends on identifying the item, the location and the reason a quantity changes. An order, a receipt, a damaged item and a transfer have different meanings. Agora’s inventory model gives those jobs a place in the commerce operation, with separate integration resources for locations, stock, availability and movements.

01

Locations

Identify where goods are held, sold or fulfilled and who is responsible for each place.

02

Stock & availability

Distinguish physical stock and the quantity available to the selling journey; confirm the reservation calculation in your deployment.

03

Receipts

Record incoming goods against the intended item and location, then inspect the resulting stock.

04

Adjustments & issues

Capture a quantity correction or issue with item, location and reason. Avoid unexplained overwrites.

05

Transfers

Move goods between locations with source, destination and receiving responsibility.

06

Movements & integration

Use the movement history and relevant interfaces to investigate changes and reconcile an external stock system.

FOLLOW THE BUSINESS JOURNEY

A concrete operating example.

A warehouse holds a bag variant used by the online store and a shop. The team receives new goods, then follows a representative sale and its stock consequence. A damaged item is recorded with a reason. A transfer to the shop needs a destination and an accountable receiving step. The operator can inspect which event explains a difference rather than guessing from the total.

The exception matters, too.

What happensWhat the team needs to resolve
The physical count differsInvestigate unrecorded receipts, sales and movements before making an authorised adjustment.
A transfer arrives shortCompare expected and received quantities and record the discrepancy through the supported workflow.
An integration repeats an updateUse the deployed contract and a reconciliation process to avoid treating a duplicate as a new business event.

INSPECT AN OPERATING SCENARIO

The same SKU. A different location.

Follow a five-unit transfer from the main warehouse to a retail location. Inspect the receiving discrepancy as well as the normal handoff.

Start at the origin

Check the variant, source and destination before authorising movement. In this example the warehouse has 18 units and the shop has 6.

What needs attention here?

The movement has not started. A request does not prove that physical stock has left.

FOLLOW THE PROCESS

From the first step
to the next decision.

01
