DEVELOPER DOCUMENTATION
Build agents that can do useful work
Treat context, permission and confirmation as part of the integration.
Start from the merchant task#
Define the question or action and the records needed to complete it. Keep discovery, recommendation and mutation separate in the tool design.
Use scoped capabilities#
Give the agent only the data and tools required for the task. A natural-language request does not grant broader permissions than the requesting user holds.
Make confirmation meaningful#
Show what will change before a consequential action. Distinguish a proposed change from a successful action and give a clear response when execution fails.
Validate the result#
Inspect the resulting business record, not only the generated text. Agree the enabled agent tools and protocols with the team; this guide does not invent a universal tool catalogue.
